15 months already!!

We had our 15 months appointment today with our pediatrician. I cannot believe my baby is 15 months old, wow time really does fly. She is doing great, hitting all her developmental milestones, some are even ahead of schedule, that's my girl- we know she's gifted! HAHA!

She is still measuring on the small side, which is no surprise being that her birth mother is petite, she is about 21 lbs and 30 inches long. Our doctor is estimating that she will be about 5'2 or 5'3 when she is an adult. Which is just fine with me, there are way worse things in life then being petite. We are going to enroll her in gymnastics when she is 18 months, it's a mommy and me class once a week for 45 minutes. She loves to jump and flip around on the couch (I can thank her grandpa for teaching her this trick!), so hopefully she will love playing on the trampolines and mats and if she's going to be small, she may just be the perfect little gymnast when she's older.

We are looking forward to spring and warm weather, we just got back from Cabo and had a fantastic time, and Claire was so good. She was perfectly content sitting at the pool playing with her toys, she even took 3 hours naps on the beach chair under the umbrella- I guess vacation is hard work! I am now counting down the days until our next vacation, which will be Myrtle Beach for 4th of July. We will be visiting with friends and family and also celebrating Claire's adoption, which should all be final by then, my mom is planning a big party- that is what we do best in our family!

Here are some 15 month stats:
- size 4 diaper
- still wearing mostly 12 month clothes, some 12-18 months depending on the brand
- LOVES chicken, hates veggies!
- No more bottle or pacifier (YAY!!!)
- still loves Puppy and now George (stuffed monkey)
- sleeping 10-12 hours a night without waking
- is a total daddy's girl, John leaves the room and we have tears!

I am just in shock that she is getting so big so fast, she will be 2 in a the blink of an eye, but we know that means- another party to plan. I have some great ideas for her 2nd birthday, but y'all will just have to stay tuned for those.

Have all our prayers been answered?

Two weeks ago I went to the foster/adoption association meeting, while I was there I starting talking to a woman who asked me if I would be interested in a one month old baby girl, whose foster parents could not keep her due to some personal family issues, she gave me the phone number to the social worker that was working the case and told me to call her.

The next day I called the caseworker and left a message- and for 2 days I did not get a call back, but only by the grace of God I got a call 48 hours later on Friday from the case worker saying the baby girl was still available and could I pick her up that day, I just said yes! I didn't even call my husband and ask him. After a few phone calls we decided that we would pick her up on Monday February 1st.

That weekend we spent getting ready for the baby- we were both so excited. On Monday we picked her up and we were instantly in LOVE. We have had our little monkey for a week now, she is 6 weeks and 4 days old and is growing like a weed. She gets me up every few hours, but I love it.

She is perfect. She was meant to be a part of our family, now I just pray and pray that she stays forever!

We got our first call!!!

OMG!!! John and I were sitting at the kitchen table working on some things tonight at 9:15pm when our home phone rings, and the caller id says "Clark County" so John goes, who would be calling us from Clark County. I screamed "honey! they are calling about a placement, answer the phone" so what does he do? Hands me the phone!! Men!! So I answer the phone, it was a new placement call- it was for a 2 year old healthy little Hawaiian boy, no parents, they are looking for his realitves.

We had to say no, because we are not quite prepared for a two year old, we have not gotten our convertible car seat yet, so we have no way to bring him home. I am now getting on that and ordering one.

John and I serioulsy feel like we are going to have a heart attack, we are so excited that we actually got a call and we are in the system and that our lives could change in a blink of an eye.
Stay tuned for our adventures in parenthood!

Wait, hold up! There is a infant seat in my house!

John and I are in the final stretch of our adoption classes. We have one more class on Saturday and our final home visit this week. We have checked everything off on our lists and our house is 100% child safe! I got a killer deal on a Graco car seat- I had several coupons and a cyber monday deal so I jumped on it. So now we have a brand spanking new Graco infant seat in our house- I don't even know what to do with myself. I feel like I need to call Fed Ex and tell them that they made a mistake, and it was delivered to the wrong house.

So we are busy researching cribs, mattresses, toys, and other baby items and getting ready for the holidays- it's very busy at our house!

I have to admit that I have never felt better. I will keep everyone updated. Happy Holidays everyone! Enjoy and be safe!
