Congrats to the Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick!

The couple welcomed their twin daughters today, June 23rd via surrogate. The twins were born at 3:58 p.m. at a hospital in Ohio. The twins, Marion Loretta Elwell weighed 5 lbs., 11 oz, and Tabitha Hodge Broderick weighed 6 lbs. "Both Hodge and Elwell are family names on Parker's side," the statement explains.

This speaks volumes about the character of Sarah Jessica Parker- she has come out and been very open about her and her husbands desire to add to their family, and Sarah has discussed that turning to a surrogate was becasue she was unable to carry a child to term successfully. Sarah also discussed how brave and wonderful her surrogate was, that is the ultimate gift that you can give someone.

I LOVE Sarah Jessica and her family, and these are going to be beauitful girls, and oh so loved. They are sure going to have a great sence of style. Hopefully Sarah has saved some clothes from Sex and the City for her girls!

So this was the news headline on People.com tonight and I have to admit I am super exicted for them. I absolutely LOVE Sarah Jessica Parker- partly because I am a huge Sex and the City fan, but becasue they seem like they are such real people and real parents. I also love that they came out and admitted that they are using a surrogate.

My personal favorite was the comments that people were making on people.com, stuff like "why don't they just adopt" or "why did she use a surrogate?" "is she too vain to get pregnant?" And my personal favorite, "I hope its their egg and sperm, otherwise it's not fair to the kid".
I seriously wanted to kill those people. First off, freaking be happy for them, they admitted that they have had trouble concieving since the birth of thier son, James Wilkie 6 years ago. Hello people she is 44 and he 47- getting pregnant at 44 is not an easy task! It has nothing to do with being too vain to carry her own child. GET REAL!!
I would be interested to know if they were SJP's eggs, just the fact that she is 44 her eggs cannot be in the best shape, if they are donor eggs, good for them, and if they are not good for them as well.

People have no idea what it takes to form a family, and they need to learn to keep their comments to themselves. These twin girls were concieved out of love, and lots of blood, sweat, and tears. Good for them! I just hope they use this as an opportunity to tell their story and encourage and inspire others!

1. I live in Las Vegas, and no I do not live on the strip, work on the strip, or even go there that much. We really do have normal houses and lives here in sin city.

2. I hate pushing the buttons at the gas station at the pay at the pump, the germs freak me out.

3. I have a serious obsession with purses and sunglasses, from Coach to Dior and Chanel I have a problem. Thank goodness its a easy gift for my husband to buy me, its a one shop deal.

4. I grew up in a small town in Ohio, was in 4-H, had horses, shoveled manure, and wouldn't change a thing about that.

5. I could not live without my Blackberry and debit card. Those are must haves when leaving the house.

6. I have a tanning addiction- I must go- now not to the point where I always look like I got back from Cancun, but I like to have a little color at all times.

7. I am a neat freak about my car- it must be clean inside and out.

8. I have OCD about leaving my curling iron plugged in- I check it about a dozen times before leaving the house and I call my husband at least once a week to have him check before he leaves for work, and yes its an automatic shut off one- so I really don't know why I worry about it.

9. Becoming a mom is the most important thing to me right now, and I will not let anyone or anything stand in my way.

10. Target is my weakness- I cannot walk out of there without buying something.

11. I met my husband on the Match.com.

12. I have never tried mustard or ketchup and do no intend to ever try it.

13. I am obsessed with the color pink, my engagement ring is even pink. I know I better have a girl! HAHA

14. I refuse to use bar soap, it must be liquid soap

15. I love tennis, used to play all the time, and definitely need to get back into it.

16. Obsessed with Sex and the City- I can recite pretty much the entire show- fall asleep to it every night, I have every season on DVD and I am a total Charlotte.

17. I would not consider myself patient- although infertility has taught me patience in a way I never thought I could understand.

18. Infertility has brought out not nice traits in me, I hate that. But I have learned a lot about myself.

19. I shave everything, everyday! I hate stubble, okay well not my head, but you get the idea.

20. I have OCD about dusting and vacuuming- I do it a lot.

21. I have a serious issue with post its- I love them and they are everywhere all over my office.

22. I am always early, NEVER late, and lateness drives me nuts!

23. I love going out to eat, I don't mind cooking, but just would prefer to go out- I think the food tastes better!

24. Love dogs, hate cats, hate snakes even more.

25. I try to be tough, but really I am not, its all a front!

No wonder people have no clue about Infertility!

I always wonder why people in the world have no clue about infertility or fertility treatments. I always chalked it up to ingorance or just stupidity, but now I am realizing that the reason the public is so stupid is because all the information they get about infertility is wrong! People get their information from television- we get news, sports scores, the latest realtity show, and also information about infertility. There are several TV shows and big screen movies that have dealt with infertility and not one so far has gotten it right.

1. Friends- Defiantley one oh my personal favorite shows of all time, and fertility was dealt with twice in two difference story lines with two different characters.
First was Phoebe- she went through IVF to be be a surrogate for her brother and carried and delievered triplets. Now in the eposide where the her brothers and his wives embroyos were transfered to Phoebe's uterus, minutes after the procedure Phoebe took a home pregnancy test and it was positive. Now that is SO not true- its takes about 2 weeks to find out if IVF was successful not 2 minutes.
Secondly was Chandler and Monica who tried to concieve unsuccessfully and met with a fertility specalist. They were told they needed to use a surrogate mother or use donor eggs- now that makes NO sence. If a woman needs a surrogate to carry her child then that means she can't carry it herself, becaue she has uterine issues- but then why would donor eggs be useful- it doesn't who's eggs you are using- if the uterus isn't getting the job done then donor eggs aren't going to help. Chandler and Monica went on to adopt twins in the season finale.

2. Sex and the City- AHHH- my personal favorite. Charlotte and Trey tried unsuccessful to concieve before meeting with Dr. Peck- it was determined after one round of tests that Charlotte had hostile cervical mucus and was attacking Trey's sperm- they were told to do IVF. Now hostile cervical mucus is really not that big of a deal and IUI usually will fix that problem. Charlotte and Trey were also told that they had a 15% chance of concieveing naturally, well a normal healthy couple has only a 15-20% every cycle- so that makes so sence either.
Also, Bitsy Vom Muffling who was married to Bobby Fien and was very old, over 45 years of age got pregnant with acupuncture- again acupuncture is great for overall health and fertility, but it won't get you pregnant at that age, good god nothing will, except maybe donor eggs or a surrogate!
In the Sex and City Movie- after Charlotte and her new husband Harry adopted Lily- Charlotte concieved naturally- Charlotte talked about how her OBGYN told her that most couples that adopt will get pregnant on their own. That is actually incorrect- and gives people the wrong idea.

3. And to round out the top three- the big screen blockbuster, Baby Mama starring Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. In this movie Tina Fey is desperate to have a baby- she enlists the help of a surrogate after several failed attempts to carry her own child. Amy Poehler plays the surrogate. In the movie Amy has Tina's embroyos tranfered into her uterus and then has sex with her husband, concieving her own child and not Tina's child. Well this is OH SO WRONG! There is no way that you can ovulate an egg when you are a surrogate- the only eggs that can implant at that time are the embroyos that are transferred to the uterus during the embroyo transfer. Again giving people wrong information.

I understand people that do not have to deal with fertilit treatments not knowing about things or even caring, however its important to know about what your friends and family are going through, so if you have someone you know going through fertility treatments try to educate yourself, ask questions and don't go off what you see on TV and in the movies, because I am yet to find one TV show or movie who actually portrays fertility treatments correctly. The closest would be on the Discovery Channel.
